The X-Files and Barbie have crossed paths. In 1998, Mattel released a product called The X-Files Giftset. The big difference between The X-Files Giftset and the 25th Anniversary release is that the original set featured Barbie and Ken playing the roles of Scully and Mulder. The 25th Anniversary set instead captures the likenesses of Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny using a, “variety of reference photos to develop digital models for the face sculpts.”
The 25th Anniversary Barbies were copyrighted 2017 and released in 2018.
