    Description

Unknown Brand Reproducer, "Patented 1916 & 1917". If you have an Antique Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph Record Player ("Victrola" as some call them, just because most are a floor model machine) which came with the Diamond needle stylus that only plays the thick Edison Diamond Disc Records (1/4" thick), this Playing Head (Reproducer) is designed to be used in place of the Edison Factory One, so that you can then use regular steel needles and play the regular 78 RPM records that were made for many years after Edison stopped making his records (1929 was the last year for Edison Diamond Disc Records), so it makes your machine much more versatile and allows you to play both kinds of records, using the proper one for each type of record. ALSO, This Reproducer Rotates to play Pathe' Sapphire Cut Records if you have a Sapphire Ball Needle (not included). I have included pictures showing it in both positions. The metal finish is worn quite a bit (from years of age and use). It Does Plays Very Well.
Please note that the machine shown is only used to demonstrate how this reproducer is used on your Edison machine (machine not included).
Changing the reproducer on your machine is quite simple. On the neck of the horn, where the original Edison reproducer is mounted, there is a knurled metal ring that you can rotate counter-clockwise and then pull out the Edison one and put this one in it's place and turn the ring back clockwise to lock it into place. This reproducer comes with a package of 100 new steel needles for playing 78 RPM records. Most folks change them after each play of a record (for best sound and to limit wear to the record). Steel needles are still being made, so there's no problem with getting them in the future. The needles are easy to change by just unscrewing the thumbscrew that holds it in, insert a new needle and tighten up the thumbscrew again. Easy peasy!
